In the second part of the monthly teachings series on Non-Meditation and Non-Distraction, Mingyur Rinpoche explains how to practice meditation. Non-Meditation and Non-Distraction do not require special effort, but simply mean being aware of an object such as the breath and letting other thoughts, emotions, and images come and go without blocking them or changing them. We remain aware of the object, not meditating, yet not distracted.
– What is your experience of practicing non-meditation and non-distraction? Does the simplicity of just noticing make it easier to remain in the awareness? Or more difficult?
– How did you respond to recognizing when you were lost or distracted? Was is easy to return to awareness of the object of meditation?
