It can be hard to find contentment and joy when we receive so many messages in our day-to-day lives that we’re not smart enough, beautiful enough, or successful enough. If we could just work harder, eat healthier, or be a little less stressed, then maybe –just maybe – we will finally feel okay. There’s always something missing.

What if, deep down, our true nature were already perfect, and it was just a matter of recognizing it?

The Joy of Living training encompasses three progressive levels:

CALMING THE MIND

In the first level, you will discover how awareness meditation can be used to create a peaceful mind and joyful heart. Awareness meditation allows us to use any situation or experience, even difficult emotions and physical pain, as a gateway to inner peace.

OPENING THE HEART

In the second level, you will experience how meditating on love, compassion, joy and equanimity can open our hearts to the world around us and decrease the self-fixation that lies at the root of suffering.

AWAKENING WISDOM

In the third level you will receive guidance on the practice of insight meditation, a profound form of meditation that uproots the causes of anxiety and suffering.

The estimated length of the complete Joy of Living training is 18-months.

The Joy of Living can be followed by everyone.

You will learn to deal with basic functions of the mind, creating a meditation habit using your senses, thoughts, emotions, love, compassion, and wisdom as support.

Joy of Living 1 - Calming the Mind

Meditation enables us to transform all experiences – even difficult emotions and painful thoughts – into sources of joy. In this meditation training, we will learn to transform our experience by using bodily sensations, feelings, thoughts, emotions, and even awareness itself as supports for meditation.

Calming the Mind offers step-by-step instructions and guidance to calm your mind by making meditation a daily habit. The training has been designed under the guidance of Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, recognized around the world for his warm, friendly teaching style and his ability to incorporate ancient teachings with the most recent advances in scientific research on the effects of meditation.
