COURSE MATERIAL

Opening the Heart

Love

COURSE OVERVIEW

The true nature of all beings is basic goodness, which is imbued with awareness, wisdom, love, compassion and various capabilities. This true nature is expressed in the wish to be happy and have the causes of happiness. When you are able to remember this fundamental goodness, you are able to act in loving and appreciative ways towards yourself and others.

In this course, you will learn about meditating on love, the first of the four immeasurables. This set of practices forms the basis for understanding how to relate skillfully with one another and what is possible if you bring wisdom to your relationships. The process begins with you and then extends out to loved ones, neutral people, difficult people, and, eventually, all beings. During this course, Mingyur Rinpoche will share a range of strategies for opening the heart and applying this in both formal meditation and everyday life.
